Our chiropractor, Dr. Vincent Saraceno, treats many different types of sports injuries at our Newark clinic. Sporting injuries can occur unexpectedly for Newark, East Orange, Ironbound and Irvington athletes and sports enthusiasts. While it is enjoyable to be active or play on the company softball team, it is easy to overdue it and end up with severe back pain, arm pain or leg pain.
Although sports are generally good for your health, risk of injury is always a possibility whether you're playing golf, soccer or running. Sports injuries fall into two main categories: Traumatic injuries caused by things like a fall and repetitive motion injuries that occur from overuse and/or poor conditioning.
Running is one of the highest impact sports for the back. The constant repetitive pounding is very hard on the soft tissues in the back, knees and hips. Falls are also not uncommon and can cause
traumatic spinal injuries. In either case, Dr. Saraceno can help heal the pain of your running injury and get you out on the road again.
Golf commonly causes back pain due to the repetitive twisting motion involved in the golf swing. A golf swing puts tremendous torque on the back and can lead to substantial pain and spinal issues. Tennis elbow is another example of a repetitive motion sports injury. Both of these injuries involve the complicated interaction of soft tissues, muscles and tendons making them perfect candidates for chiropractic healing.
Dr. Vincent Saraceno will design a sports injury program to heal and rehabilitate your sports injury. The program may include joint manipulation, acupuncture, massage, physical therapy, bracing and specific exercises for strengthening. He will also help you to understand why the injury occurred in the first place. Sometimes people come into the clinic with severe joint pain and in just a few sessions their pain has completely disappeared. This is because the same techniques that work so well for spinal problems also heal most other types of soft tissue injuries.
